Connect with a Kid Club
The relationships between adults and children have changed radically over recent years, just think of what it must have been like to be a child born in 1915 compared to what it is like being a child born in 2015. Connect with a Kid is about exploring these changes, really listening to children, and sharing time in a new way. There is one big rule for this club: each Idea is for one adult and one child only. This can be any adult/child relationship (i.e. parent/child, aunt/niece, godparent/godchild, etc) but these ideas are for spending focused time with eachother. Too often children feel ganged up on by their parents or parents become frustrated with sibling arguments. Connect with a Kid is focused on just being together, one to one.
You can be creative how to work this out in your life, perhaps you have many grandchildren and you do an Idea with a different one each month. Or maybe a family of four joins and each parent switches the kid they do the Idea with each month. There are endless permutations, but the focus is on giving kids and adults a way to be together outside of school, work, and all of the other daily tasks.
When you join the Connect with a Kid Club, you will receive an email each month detailing an activity or discussion to do together. Your introductory email will also contain a bonus Idea so that you can get started right away.These will be very general Ideas because they will need to apply to so many age ranges and types of relationships. The main focus is on creating some dedicated time in your schedule to make quality kid time a priority in your life. It will be up to you to tailor the Idea to your situation and spend that one-on-one time as you see fit. Even a small amount of private time can make a huge difference to a kid, it helps to build the care and trust essential to all relationships. Connect with a Kid emails are sent on the 26th day of each month.
